Stainless Steel 304 Pipes Supplier

When we employ tubes made of grade stainless steel (SS) 304L  we are utilizing a particular grade of the alloy which is slightly distinct from the other types of steel, specifically differing in its chemical composition. It is this defining chemistry of stainless steel 304 that broadens its spectrum in several applications, making it a widely used stainless steel grade. The elements combined to form this grade are as follows; iron, sulfur, silicon, chromium, manganese, nickel, nitrogen, carbon, and phosphorus. The amount of carbon is the ideal distinguishing feature between the grades 304 and 304L, with the latter comprising a comparatively lower portion of carbon, which also affects the properties of the alloy display.

The stainless steel 304L pipes are considered to be resourceful, owing to the outstanding properties it exhibits in varying conditions. The prominent trait among these is its corrosion resistance. Both 304 and 304L grades of stainless steel have the potential to work effectively even when it is exposed to corrosive agents, without succumbing to pitted or crevice corrosion. However, chloride ions should be avoided as they can corrode the pipes/tubes by their strong oxidizing action. Thermal stability is also an impressive characteristic attributed to the usage of SS 304 tubes and is capable of withstanding temperatures as high as 925℃. The SS 304L grade of pipes is, however, more competent in enduring corrosive agents at such higher temperatures, because of the resistance it masterfully exhibits against intergranular corrosion at elevated temperatures.
