The SS 316 coils are known as Marine Grade Stainless Steel because of their exceptional corrosion resistance to chlorinated solutions and chlorides. At ambient temperatures, the SS DIN 1.4401 coils are also corrosive to potable water, containing up to 1000 mg/L chlorides. Our SS 316 coils offer good intergranular corrosion resistance as well. Although SS 316 Coils are commonly referred to as “Marine Grade” stainless steel, they are not resistant to warm seawater. Surface corrosion of the SS UNS S31600 coils can be seen in various marine settings, and it appears as brown discoloration.
Crevices and a rough surface finish contribute to this staining. The oxidation resistance of SS DIN 1.4401 sheets is typically 870 °C in intermittent use and 925 °C in continuous service. Other countries that employ SS 316 coils include laboratory benches and equipment, chemical and petrochemical equipment, brewery, dairy, and pharmaceutical production equipment, and food processing equipment. Pitting resistance test, hardness test, flattening test, micro test, intergranular test, macro test, identification test, positive material test, chemical test, resistant test, and many other tests are performed on the product.
