Duplex Steel UNS S31803 round bars are manufactured from a combination of Chromium, Nickel, and Molybdenum, with very little Nitrogen added. At temperatures exceeding 300°C, the brittle micro-constituents of ASTM A276 Duplex Steel 2205 Round Bars precipitate. The micro-constituents of Duplex Steel UNS S32205 Round bars are reported to undergo ductile-to-brittle transition at temperatures below -50°C. They also have good corrosion resistance and are known to resist intergranular, crevice, and pitting corrosion. The low machinability of Duplex Steel UNS S31803 round bars is due to their high strength.
