This grade has a minor quantity of Titanium, usually less than 0.5 percent. The inclusion of titanium protects 316Ti from precipitation at high temperatures, even when exposed for lengthy periods of time. The annealed strength of these bars is good, and tempering is required to improve elasticity and hardness. Standard nickel and chromium austenitic stainless steels are less resistant to general, pitting, and crevice corrosion.
