What are Lapped Joint Flanges?
Lapped Joint Flanges are a compilation of stub end with lapped joint rings placed over them. They differ from Slip-on Flanges with Stub ends. The pipe is inserted into the stub end and welded. Whereas the ring is allowed to rotate to align the mating flange. It is used in larger flanges or flanges that are not easy to adjust. These flanges slipped above the pipe and fastened with bolting pressure against the Stub End. This pressure is conveyed towards the gasket through the pressure of the flange.
Qualities of Stainless Steel Lapped Joint Flanges:
- It is freely rotated around the pipe that assists in the alignment of bolt holes of the opposite flange.
- It lacks direct contact with fluid flowing through the pipe, and therefore it reduces corrosive effects.
- It is reusable in harsh corrosive surroundings that effects rapid erosion.
Stainless Steel Lapped Joint Flanges are used in various pressure systems, and higher pressures are reduced during orifice flow. It is tightly fastened and is stronger.
