What is SMO 254 material?
SMO 254, the Stainless steel grade, is an exceptionally austenitic stainless steel acquiring double strength than the SS 300 series. It is alloyed with high Iron, Chromium, Nickel and Molybdenum content. Additionally, some Nitrogen and Carbon is blended to improve the strength of the material. Thus it shows admirable properties like:
- It is deliberated with impact toughness.
- It possesses excellent resistance against chloride stress corrosion cracking in addition to pitting as well as crevice corrosion.
- It is a cost-effective option replacing high nickel-titanium alloys with considerable workability.
