• Description Of Hastelloy C22 Alloy

Hastelloy C22 is also known as alloy C22. It is a versatile austenitic nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy that enhances resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking. The high chromium content of the alloy provides good resistance to oxidizing media. Same as that, the molybdenum and tungsten content give good resistance to reducing media. The nickel steel alloy shows excellent resistance to oxidizing aqueous media. Also, the alloy includes a wet chlorine mixture containing nitric or oxidizing acids with chlorine ions. 

Hastelloy C-22 has resistance towards the many mixed or contaminated chemical solutions, both organic and inorganic. These organic, inorganic solutions are like oxidizing acid chlorides, formic and acetic acids, wet chlorine, ferric and cupric chlorides, seawater, brine. This alloy is beneficial in multipurpose plants where such conditions occur commonly. It maintains the production of grain-boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone. So, the alloy is suitable for most chemical process applications in the welded condition. Even if ductile is normal enough to be formed by cold working, intermediate annealing may be necessary due to the work hardening.
