What are Stub Ends?
Stub ends are mechanical joints that comprise of two components: The Stub End, which is essentially a short length of the tube, which has one end flared outward and the other end prepared to be welded to the pipe of the same Nominal Pipe Size (NPS), material and of a similar wall thickness. There are three types of stub Ends like Long Stub Ends, Short Stub Ends, and Lap Joint Stub Ends.
What is the Lap Joint?
Stub ends are buttweld fittings that can be used (in combination with a lap joint flange) as an alternative to weld neck flanges to make flanged connections. They are also called Lap Joints. Assembly and dismantling of these Lap Joint Stub Ends are very easy, so there is a scope for cleaning and modification. The most astonishing feature that they have is the back end of the flange can rotate full 360 degrees. This facilitates space adjusting and correcting during misalignment.
